Smoke drifts north from Bass River woodland fire - Asbury Park Press

Smoke from a 464-acre wooded area fireplace burning in southern Burlington County has made its way to northern Monmouth County, in accordance with the new Jersey forest fire provider.

The hearth became reported at about 5 p.m. Thursday within the Bass River State wooded area in Bass River Township, pointed out Michael Achey, warden of the brand new Jersey woodland fireplace carrier's principal location, which contains Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex and Burlington counties.

The fire is in a far flung location with little chance to structures or homes, Achey said. The fireplace is about 60 percent below manage and isn't anticipated to get any larger.

A helicopter will make a remark flight this morning and officers should have an replace on the popularity of the fireplace early this afternoon, Achey spoke of.

"we have a south wind, so the smoke from the fire is stepping into a northerly route," Achey said. "The air today is a little heavy, and the smoke is staying low to the ground and touring as an alternative of lifting."

Smoke has been suggested as far north as Middletown, which is set 60 to 70 miles north of the woodland.

"Wind become blowing (the smoke) far from the park office and campground," Achey referred to. "The wind changed into going the style we wanted it to. It was staying far from the garden State Parkway, which is always a neighborhood of difficulty with us as a result of site visitors."

Achey spoke of other than the smoke, there is now not numerous influence to the general public, he noted.

"With any success, we will get rain these days and on the way to aid," he spoke of.
